Assistant Sales Manager

We are seeking an energetic, outgoing and organized go getter for this new position. Prefer retail experience, previous supervisory experience, knowledge of home improvement and/or building materials.

General Requirements: Position responsibility for managing sales functions of the Community Forklift warehouse store; providing supervision for sales staff and customer relations; oversight and support to facilitate sales including consignment items; organization of check out areas with a high degree of attention to excellent customer service. Support for non-profit oriented team environment.

Specific duties include: schedule and supervise staff; oversight and supervision of sales related activity; development and implementation of procedures and systems to improve sales operations; support for pricing and customer concerns; provide product information to customers; conduct sales and keep records; ensure daily check out procedures are followed; special sales and implementation of store policy.

Position Requirements: Prefer knowledge of home improvement and/or building materials; very strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to work with very diverse constituencies; evidence of successful experience supervising retail sales staff; good supervisory skills including a friendly demeanor with an emphasis on responsibility, follow through and leadership by example; computer skills; attention to detail and capacity to manage multiple responsibilities and tasks; energetic, self starting and creative in developing opportunities; excellent customer service skills; commitment to non-profit mission with an interest in reuse and environmental advocacy; ability to work in all seasons and weather; ability to lift materials on occasion; commitment to cooperative, team approach. Flexibility and patience with the demands of a start up business.

Other Qualifications: Available to work on Saturdays and one late day a week; flexibility in scheduling; looking for a new hire who can start fairly soon.
