Directions and Map to Store
Our address is 4671 Tanglewood Drive, Edmonston MD 20781. We are located inside the Beltway in the Hyattsville area, just a few minutes outside NE DC.
Click the map for directions from your specific location. However, you should scroll down to read our driving directions, as they include extra landmarks and details.
Driving directions to Community Forklift from the WEST (central D.C.):
- Head east on:
- Irving/Michigan Ave.; about 1 mile past Catholic University, make a right turn onto South Dakota Ave. heading south; take a left when you get to Monroe St, which will lead you to Rhode Island Avenue (you make a slight left).
or
- Rhode Island Avenue
- After crossing over Eastern Avenue into Maryland, go through the small traffic circle in Mt. Rainier, and keep going on Rhode Island Ave. for approximately 1.25 miles.
- Take a right turn onto Charles Armentrout Drive (If you get to the Hyattsville Courthouse complex, you have missed the turn).
- You will go under a small railroad underpass, and travel about three blocks.
- Take your first right, onto Baltimore Avenue / Alternate Route One, cross over a small bridge and IMMEDIATELY get into the left turn lane.
- Make your first left across the divided highway onto Tanglewood Drive (If you get to a crossroads with a big concrete cross memorial, you have missed the turn.

- Tanglewood Drive is a curvy road, so bear left as it curves - DON'T turn to the right onto 46th street.
- After you cross over the railroad tracks, Community Forklift is the second building on the right. The front of our building is off-white brick and there is a large Community Forklift sign on the second floor.
- Park on the street in front of our building, watching out for the fire hydrant and the city's parking signs! If it is a busy day, you may need to follow the signs to our overflow parking lot.
- To enter, walk to the right side of the building, through the big gate into the courtyard, and up the steps into the front entrance.
- PLEASE DO NOT PULL INTO THE LOADING COURTYARD unless you are loading something you have ALREADY PAID FOR. Thanks for your cooperation! If you have a donation to drop off, please walk in and tell us what kind of materials you have. We will direct you to the proper loading bay, as we do not usually accept donations at the customer entrance.
Driving directions from the SOUTHWEST (Downtown DC or Arlington, Co., VA):
- Take New York Avenue (or I-395 north until it dead-ends into New York Avenue) heading east.
- Take a left on Bladensburg Road.
- After 2.5 miles, you'll pass the Port Towns Shopping Center, Burger King, and Taco Bell. Then, you'll cross the Anacostia River and come to a crossroads with a large concrete cross-shaped memorial. At the crossroads, you should bear left on Baltimore Avenue / Alternative Route 1.(If you find yourself on Annapolis Road, going under the railroad overpass, then you have missed the turn).
- Take your 2nd right onto Tanglewood Drive (If you go over a small bridge and pass a gas station, you have missed the turn).

- Tanglewood Drive is a curvy road, so bear left as it curves - DON'T turn to the right onto 46th street.
- After you cross over the railroad tracks, Community Forklift is the second building on the right. The front of our building is off-white brick and there is a large Community Forklift sign on the second floor.

Driving directions from the SOUTH (SE DC or Capitol Heights, MD, or Eastern Fairfax, County Virginia):
- From Washington (or the Beltway after crossing East across the Wilson Bridge) take Hwy. I-295 North to the Kenilworth Avenue/201 exit (the exit is near the exit for route 50).
- Continue North on Kenilworth Avenue about 3 miles.
- Pass the Go Kart Track (on your left) and take the next left onto Buchanan Street across from the Three Brothers shopping center.
- Buchanan will curve to the left, changing names to Tanglewood Drive, and we are #4671, on your left. If you cross the railroad tracks, you have gone too far.
Driving directions from the NORTH (Montgomery or Northern PG Co. or Western Fairfax County, Virginia):
- From the Washington Beltway exit South at Exit 23 - Kenilworth Ave., also known as Hwy. 201.
- Cross East-West Highway (Hwy. 410) and continue on Kenilworth for another 1.2 miles to Buchanan Street.
- Turn right onto Buchanan Street (If you pass a Go-Kart track you have gone too far).
- Go 3 blocks on Buchanan, and it will make a sharp curve to the left. At that point, the road's name changes to Tanglewood Drive, and we are the first warehouse on your left (If you cross the railroad tracks, you have gone too far).
- The front of our building is off-white brick and there is a large Community Forklift sign on the second floor. Park on the street in front of our building, watching out for the fire hydrant and the city's parking signs! If it is a busy day, you may need to follow the signs to our overflow parking lot.
- To enter, walk to the right side of the building, through the big gate into the courtyard, and up the steps into the front entrance.

- From the Beltway head west on either
- Hwy. 450 (Annapolis Road), or
- Hwy. 50 (John Hanson Hwy.), & exit to Hwy. 202 west (Landover Road) and continue onto Hwy 450, or
- Hwy. 202 (Landover Road) which merges with Hwy. 450
- Continue on Hwy 450 (Annapolis Rd)
- You will pass under a railroad overpass, and arrive at a crossroads intersection (with a big concrete cross memorial in the middle).
- At the crossroads, bear right onto Baltimore Avenue / Alternate Route 1 (If you find yourself on Bladensburg Road, passing a Taco Bell and Burger King, then you went the wrong way at the crossroads).
- Take your 2nd right onto Tanglewood Drive (If you go over a small bridge and pass a gas station, you have gone too far and missed it).

Directions to Community Forklift via PUBLIC TRANSIT
Let's answer this question first: "What if I find something cool, but it's too big to take home on the bus?"
No problem! You can buy it, then we will store it for up to two weeks so you can rent a vehicle or find someone to fetch it for you. Keep in mind: if you are a member of Zipcar, they do have pickup trucks available to use.
- Take the Metro Green line to the West Hyattsville Station, or the Orange line to the Cheverly Station, then, in either case, catch the F8 Metro bus to the intersection of Baltimore Ave. & Tanglewood Drive.
- From there, walk down Tanglewood Drive (Note: it is a curvy road, so make sure to bear left as it curves - DON'T turn to the right onto 46th street).
- After you cross over the railroad tracks, Community Forklift is the second building on the right. The front of our building is off-white brick and there is a large Community Forklift sign on the second floor.
To enter, walk to the right side of the building, through the big gate into the courtyard, and up the steps into the front entrance.
Another option:
- Take the Metro Red line to the Rhode Island Avenue Station, and then catch an 84 or 85 Metro bus. The bus will run up Rhode Island Ave. then follow Bladensburg Road to Annapolis Road, and turn up Edmonston Road. Exit at the corner of Edmonston Road and Tilden St. (which becomes Upshur as it goes West) at the intersection with the Bladensburg Visitors Center & Town Hall.
- Walk one block to the West (left) to reach Kenilworth Ave. (Hwy 201)
- Then, walk north (right) two long blocks (without sidewalks) and turn left onto Buchanan Street.
- Walk three blocks and then Buchanan will make a sharp curve to the left. At that point, the road's name changes to Tanglewood Drive, and we are the first warehouse on your left (If you cross the railroad tracks, you have gone too far).
- The front of our building is off-white brick and there is a large Community Forklift sign on the second floor. To enter, walk to the right side of the building, through the big gate into the courtyard, and up the steps into the front entrance.
Directions to Community Forklift via BICYCLE
Let's answer this question first: "What if I find something cool, but it's too big to take home on my bike?"
